Art Trail

The next Cloth Road Arts Week will run in May 2010 (Saturday 1st May to  Sunday 9th May 2010).

During the 2008 event, 80 artists and makers at 34 different venues, many in their own studios, opened their doors to the viewing public. It was a beautifully sunny week and visitors were able to enjoy a glorious day out winding along the trail to meet the artists in their spaces and find work that was interesting and appealing to them.

Between now and the next event in 2010 Cloth Road Artists will be looking at the possibilities of going on tour in small cluster groups, at galleries and other locations around the area. Keep an eye on the website for updates on this.

The art week is the big event bi-annually to bring together as many artists as possible, to put on a week long showcase of the variety of artistic talent that resides in the West Wiltshire area. This involves galleries in town centres as well as individual studios in the heart of the countryside. Some artists group together to offer a variety of different work at a single location.

During the art week you’ll find some artists offering practical workshops at a nominal fee, and many provide refreshments to enjoy whilst you browse the work.

It’s an opportunity to meet local artists in their own studios, to see how they work and to talk to them on a one-to-one basis.

Free brochures for the art trail are made available from local Tourist Information Centres, local Libraries and local shops as well as in libraries across the South West of England and many art centres.

Copies of the brochure can be posted out on receipt of a 50p A5 sae.

To run this event we rely on local sponsors and local authorities. For the 2008 event we received support from West Wiltshire District Council, Bradford on Avon Town Council, Trowbridge Town Council, Bratton, West Ashton, Hilperton, Melksham Without, Hilperton and Semington Parish Councils and from Denton’s Directories.
