About Cloth Road Arts

The Cloth Road Arts is a not-for-profit collective, formed in 2004 with the purpose of promoting the visual arts, artists and artisans in Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Melksham and the surrounding villages of West Wiltshire.

As part of this promotion of visual arts we organise regular networking and exhibition opportunities, including our established Arts Week event; an open studios for a nine day period every other year.

Why the Cloth Road?

There is no single river or valley that connects the three towns. However they were all involved in the cloth trade in years gone by and roads which link the towns now were all historically used to transport raw materials and finished cloth to ports and markets. Hence the name “The Cloth Road”.
