I’ve celebrated 40 years of creativity 1981-2021. ✸ From my start in 1981-1987 as a Designer working at Conran Design Group, Covent Garden, London… to now in Bradford on Avon ‘BoA’ where I’ve lived for over a decade. ✸ My cottage studio is in what once was an historic Georgian era weavers’ workshop c.1775 where weavers wove broadcloth on hand looms in the quieter times before the weaving mills of the industrial revolution began in BoA. ✸ I’m inspired by local Wiltshire weavers’ history in BoA and nearby Trowbridge and Frome, and by old Folk songs as gathered by Cecil Sharp and sung by our local BoA Folk Group, and by my folk music family, one of my sons is a heritage crafts concertina craftsman at Wolverton Concertinas. ✸ MY BACKGROUND: BA Degree Graphic Design & illustration: St Martin’s School of Art, Covent Garden, London, led directly to my ✸ DESIGN CAREER beginning with 7 years at Conran Design Group, London, producing designs and surface decoration for textiles and homeware products for Sir Terence Conran’s many shops including Habitat, The Conran Shop, Heal’s, Mothercare and others. ✸ After 7 wonderful years at Conran’s it was on to freelance illustration work and designing product gift ranges. ✸ Life included opening the first DIGITAL ART GALLERY in London, at Colville Place, W1, whilst designing and illustrating. ✸ Creativity, art and design continue to the present day creating colour images on my iPad Pro (inspired by David Hockney’s iPad art). These become digital giclée prints onto paper and textiles on display in exhibitions and in my own FOLK ART GALLERY in my historic weaver’s cottage in Bradford on Avon along with folk stitching handmade textiles. ✸ I do not sell my work ✸ I have annual Summer Open Days for colourfully celebrating creativity with friends. ✸ Updates on my INSTAGRAM page.
