Waite, Matt

Ceramics

I throw my work using a variety of clays from a small family run clay pit in Cornwall. Glaze firings begin at 3 am until about 8 pm to reach the top temperature of 1300 C. I use beautiful Oriental glazes , which I mix myself, to decorate the pots. Flame in the kiln gives the clay a warm ‘toasted’ finish. I make a wide range of work including mugs, cups, jugs, bowls, teapots etc , as well as some larger gallery pieces.
